Portovenere or bust

GAH. My 3 week Saturday is coming to an end. Geoff and I are leaving Portovenere today for Pisa, we fly to back to Paris tonight. Oh...I don't want to leave. Yesterday Geoff and I climbed a mountain here, we decided to go for a run and found ourselves running uphill the whole way, partially stopping to clamber over boulders. BUT when we got to the top, the view was incredible. Non stop view of the water. I don't know what to say, I just keep looking out the window, sighing. SIGH.
View from the top of the mountain, slightly terrifying, so I knelt, don't judge

Feet in the Mediterranean

Geoff went swimming, little bit cold still!

YEAH

Do I really have to leave?
I've decided that I'm not going to come home, rather everyone needs to come here. Done.

Prego

Check out the photo page. Lots of new photos

I forgot to tell you that I learnt Italian...PREGO. Prego is this mysterious word that Italians use in every sentence. It means: Please, here, there, after you, ready, is it good, there you go, ok, etc. Literally all you need to know is prego.
Today Geoff and I left Reggio Emilia, where we biked around town and I took photos of every child I saw. I actually sat outside of a school during recess and just observed...not gonna lie, pretty good day in my books.
Afterwards we bust out of the GPS and typed in SEA...and we ended up in Puerto Venero. Remember when I said that I found Eden, I was actually on the outskirts...this is actually the Garden of Eden. Geoff and I found a church high on the cliffs of the sea. Must I remind you that Jesus went fishing on the Mediterranean? I can't handle my life right now.

Sitting on the dock of the bay...watching the tide
Is this really happening?
PS John, you must come fishing here!

Garden of Eden...found

So I've failed to mention how amazing I think Italy really truly is. As soon as I got here I knew that I found the Garden of Eden. The landscape is breath-taking, not to mention the fact that it's spring here and the fruit trees are already producing fruit. The people are incredible, on our first day here we were about to run through the city when a random man stopped us and told us that we were doing it all wrong, he directed us to the most beautiful park that I've ever run through...and I've run through a few in my days. The architecture is unrivaled. I thought that Paris was incredible, but it's got nothing on buildings that date BEFORE CHRIST. And the food...oh the food. Enough said.
Vatican City, outside of St. Peter's Basilica
I must tell you about yesterday. Geoff and I toured Vatican City and saw a million cool things...until I saw the mother of all cool things. We finished with St. Peter's and we were about to leave, I was wearing new boots and my feet were officially nubs. But then we saw a free exhibit on the history of the Bible. Now you might think "How interesting can that be?" But then when you see Bibles and Torah's that have survived MILLENIA, and Nazi occupation, and then some of the first Geneva Bibles, it'll blow your mind. I saw a stone, the same size I imagine the 10 commandment's to be written on, that had parts of the Torah written on it, carbon dated to a century before Christ. The scripture that survived prophesized Christ's coming and that He would rise 3 days after His death. Coincidence? I think not.

In honour of Errol

Mediterranean! (Adriatic Sea)

Ya, it's what you think it is...
Errol! I love all your comments! So this post shall be for you. Yesterday, Geoff and I took a guided tour of Pompeii, I think you would love it there. We were walking through ancient Roman ruins and all I could think about is how much you would have loved it there. Pompeii it turns out was full of brothels, one was still in tact with beds and get this...a painted catalogue of *ahem* positions that could be requested. I thought it was crazy-ness walking through Chateau's in France and thinking about history, but ROMAN history? Before Christ? It's real people...
